How to install skills in Google Antigravity

A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file. Antigravity reads its description at the start of a conversation and loads the full instructions only when your request matches. Installing a skill means putting that folder where Antigravity looks.

Checked against Google's documentation on 2026-10-06. This site is not affiliated with Google.

Fastest: let your agent install it

Every skill page has an Option 1 box with a short message to paste into Antigravity. The agent opens that skill's install file (/install/<skill>.md on this site), shows you what it will download, waits for your OK, then copies the folder in and checks that the skill is listed.

You can also point the agent at the whole directory:

Read https://www.antigravityskills.org/llms.txt, find a skill for <what you need>,
show me the options, and install the one I pick into this project.

The steps below are what the agent does, if you prefer to do it by hand.

1. Pick where the skill should live

ScopeFolder
This project only (workspace)<project-root>/.agents/skills/<skill-folder>/
All projects (global, Antigravity IDE / 2.0)~/.gemini/config/skills/<skill-folder>/
All projects (Antigravity CLI)~/.gemini/antigravity-cli/skills/<skill-folder>/

2. Copy the skill folder in

Download the repository that contains the skill, then copy only that skill's folder. Example with a skill from sickn33/antigravity-awesome-skills:

git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/sickn33/antigravity-awesome-skills.git /tmp/ag-skills

# this project only
mkdir -p .agents/skills && cp -r /tmp/ag-skills/skills/clean-code .agents/skills/

# or every project
mkdir -p ~/.gemini/config/skills && cp -r /tmp/ag-skills/skills/clean-code ~/.gemini/config/skills/

Some skills ship their own installer. UI UX Pro Max, for example, documents uipro init --ai antigravity, which writes to .agents/skills/ for you. Each skill page shows the method its own docs give.

3. Check the folder looks right

.agents/skills/clean-code/
├── SKILL.md       # required
├── scripts/       # optional
├── examples/      # optional
└── resources/     # optional

SKILL.md starts with YAML frontmatter. description is required and is what Antigravity matches your request against; name is optional (lowercase, hyphens).

4. Confirm Antigravity sees it

In the Antigravity 2.0 app, open a new conversation and ask "What skills do you have?". The app has no /skills command; typing / and the skill name also finds it (in our tests sometimes only after the first message). In the Antigravity CLI, run /skills; in a session that was already open, run /skills reload first. In the Antigravity CLI each skill also becomes a slash command. If a skill is missing, check that the folder sits directly under the skills directory and that SKILL.md has a description.

MCP servers go somewhere else

An MCP server is not a skill folder. Antigravity reads MCP servers from ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json (all projects) or .agents/mcp_config.json (one project), using the same mcpServers JSON most servers document. Each entry needs either command (local server) or serverUrl (remote server). In Antigravity 2.0 you can also open Settings → Customizations → Add MCP to pick one from the MCP Store.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "server-name": {
      "command": "node",
      "args": ["/path/to/server.js"],
      "env": { "KEY": "value" }
    }
  }
}

Before you install: read what it runs

A skill can include scripts the agent will execute. Open the folder and look for scripts/ before copying it in. Skills marked reviewed on this site have a static code review with the commit we checked.

FAQ

Where does Google Antigravity look for skills?
In a workspace: <project-root>/.agents/skills/<skill-folder>/. Globally (all projects): ~/.gemini/config/skills/<skill-folder>/. The Antigravity CLI uses ~/.gemini/antigravity-cli/skills/<skill-folder>/ for global skills.
What does a skill folder need?
A SKILL.md file. Its YAML frontmatter needs a description (what the skill does and when to use it); name is optional. Folders such as scripts/, examples/ and resources/ are optional.
How do I know Antigravity loaded my skill?
In the Antigravity 2.0 app, ask "What skills do you have?" in a new conversation (the app has no /skills command). In the Antigravity CLI, run /skills; a session that was already open needs /skills reload first. The agent only reads the full SKILL.md when your request matches the skill description.
Can I use the same skill in Claude Code, Cursor or Codex?
Skills are plain folders with a SKILL.md, so the same folder can usually be copied into another assistant's skills directory. Each skill page on this site lists the install steps its own documentation gives for other assistants.
